The most common scenario when using License Distribution Service is that you have one or more products for which you want to create node-locked and floating licenses.
Typically, you can best address this business case by creating a Product object associated with the root Entity. This will let others reuse the defined Product object and create Orders using this Product.
Within this Product, you can then define one or more Order templates for all your license types. You can specify when they should expire (say, in 1 year) and specify that the expiration time should be from the activation date, not from the creation date.
When adding Customers into the system, you can reuse those Orders and fill out only the missing information for each Customer, such as the licensee information. You can automate this by using the LICSERVICE_USE_CUSTOMER_COMPANY_AS_LICENSEE or LICSERVICE_USE_CUSTOMER_NAME_AS_LICENSEE keywords in the Order template’s feature setting.
You can perform these actions using a user application written for the purpose, a webportal or even your existing CRM system.
