The ability to retrieve a harddisk hostid using the LM-X End User Configuration tool or LM-X API is an OS limitation. Windows XP and Windows Vista are able to provide the harddisk hostid to LM-X, but permissions and hardware settings may prevent it from working. Windows 2000 and non-Windows platforms do not provide a harddisk hostid.
